IQS

Four of us attended the International Quilt Show in Chicago over the long weekend! This quilt particularly caught my eye. It was entirely hand-pieced and quilted. The colors were incredible---this picture doesn't do justice to either the colors or the needlework. There were hundreds of beautiful quilts and many vendors from all over the world. We met the friend of a friend, attending the show from Japan. Although the show was held in Rosemont, we took the time Saturday night to go downtown for dinner in the Hancock Building. The wind was howling and biting, precipitation that could have been very cold thick rain or snow was pelting down, and we were dressed for spring! But we had a great time!

Sure signs of Spring

The day started out with clear skies and bright sunlight--and fifty degrees! These daffodil sprouts are a sure sign that spring is on the way. These are on the north side of the house. They generally bloom about 2-3 weeks later than Clint's.

The High Cost of Health Care

This is a back view of the new Sparrow Tower looking south. Although it is 10 stories high, the top four floors are shelled in for future use. The last two areas to occupy this new structure, cardiolovascular and surgical services, are expected to move in by July 2008. It's magnificent. The new nursing units have private rooms and space for families and technology. The physical environment makes it a lovely place to work. I am struck, though, by the cost. I think of the many, many people in this country who do not even have access to basic medical care and people who work hard at jobs that do not provide health insurance.

Where does the time go?

I notice that my last blog was in October 2007! I think about writing every day and have composed many entries in my mind. I'll do a better update tomorrow!
